How do I paper file?

The most secure and fastest way to file is to use our File with Help or File Myself products to e-file your return but sometimes, you’ll need to file a paper return with the IRS by printing, signing, and mailing copies of your return.

To complete the process, you will need to complete these steps:

Download and Print:
Download your tax return and print three copies, one for you to keep, one to mail to the IRS, and one to mail to your State tax department. 

Sign and Prepare:
Be sure to sign your tax return and attach all required income documents (such as W-2s, 1099s, etc.).

Mail Your Federal Return:
- Find the correct IRS mailing address for your federal return (it varies based on where you live)
- Double-check the address based on your state and whether you’re including a payment
- When mailing it through the US Postal Service, we recommend that you send it by certified mail with acknowledgment of delivery receipt (also known as a Return Receipt)

TaxSlayer has a list of addresses for all states or you can look up on your State’s tax department website.
