What is AGI and how do I find it?
If you are using our File Myself option or most online filing tools, you might need to enter your prior year AGI to submit your tax return as a security measure against identity theft and tax fraud. AGI stands for Adjusted Gross Income and is a number that is calculated using your total earnings and any adjustments.
- If you filed a tax return last year, you should be able to find your AGI on Line 11 of your tax return
- If you cannot find a copy of your tax return from last year, you should try to get a copy rather than guessing the amount. You’ll need to request a copy from the person, organization, or software that helped you file the tax return. If none of those options are possible, you can request a transcript from the IRS
- If you did NOT file a tax return last year, you should enter $0 as your AGI
